Flute Weekend (10 - 12 October)

Emma Williams - flute & Richard Shaw - piano

This weekend is for those who would like to brush down their playing and spend some quality time with their flute! Lots of playing over the weekend, playing in class, flute ensembles, “Doctor Tone” -  classes for sound and breathing, some scale ensembles (this will allow for all levels to take part), individual sessions with piano and some individual flute lessons. Workshops over the weekend include repertoire classes, techniques (breathing, sound, articulation, finger agility and posture). The course is suitable for flautists from Grade 4 to diploma level and for teachers too.

Hawkwood is a lovely eighteenth-century country house enjoying spectacular views towards the River Severn and the Forest of Dean Hills. The house itself has extensive grounds for you to enjoy. Participants stay in single or shared rooms in the stable block at Hawkwood or in the main house itself. Hawkwood is also renowned for its tasty, home-made food! The classes take place in one of six large studios or in the Concert Hall.

“Thank-you for a very good weekend indeed and plenty of inspiration and encouragement!”

“We had a wonderful and very valuable time.”

“Thanks so much to both of you for everything!”

“It was great.  Thanks for all the feedback, for the encouragement, the evening recital, and a motivating weekend generally.  What a gorgeous venue - and it felt like ideal weather to be playing something called Sunstreams!”
